Indicative workforce

A first phase planned for 450 to 550 direct jobs.

Six people in ten would run the installations; technicians, engineers and support functions complete the team. These are planning estimates, to be refined with detailed engineering. Transport, contract maintenance, services and suppliers would add indirect jobs, and construction temporary ones.

Cameroon has strong engineering schools and technical institutes, but none of the schools we reviewed offers a dedicated steelmaking programme: steel metallurgy will be learned partly on site.

The investment-incentive framework also asks investors for a programme of local skills, technology transfer and local hiring.
