Accessibility
A site everyone can read.
Cameroon Steel wants everyone to be able to understand the project, whatever their device, sight, hearing, mobility or language.
Statement prepared on 10 October 2026 and updated the same day, by self-assessment.
Our target
This site aims to conform to level AA of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2).
It has not yet been independently audited. Until it is, we declare it partially conformant: the automated and manual checks carried out during development found no major barrier, but only an external audit can confirm it.
What the site provides
- Reading comfort: the menu lets you reduce motion (“Reduced motion”), increase contrast and enlarge text in two steps; the header rearranges itself so the navigation never overlaps, whatever the text size. Your system’s “reduce motion” setting is respected automatically: videos give way to still images, scroll-driven sequences become static (the product range is shown as a grid, the value chain as successive panels), and the flow diagram’s particles stop and their pause button disappears.
- Keyboard: every function works from the keyboard, with a visible focus indicator and a skip link to the content. Search opens with
/orCtrl K; the arrow keys move through the results. - Figures explained: every figure carries a status label (sourced, reported, derived, assumption, illustrative) that opens its source, by keyboard as well as by mouse; sources are presented in the language of the page, with document titles kept in their original language.
- Images and charts: charts have a caption stating their finding and source; decorative images are ignored by screen readers; computer-generated images carry the label “Visualisation”.
- Languages: every page exists in French, English and Chinese; the language switch keeps you on the same page, and passages in another language are marked as such so that speech synthesis pronounces them correctly.
- Flexible layout: the layout remains readable at 200% zoom and on a screen 320 pixels wide, without horizontal scrolling, including with reduced motion.
- Printing: pages print without the navigation, in dark ink on white; the address of an external link is printed only once.
- Forms: every field has a label, errors are described in words and there are no time limits. The contact form prepares your message; it does not send it yet, and says so clearly.
Known limitations
- The white papers are published as full French and English editions, chapter by chapter. In Chinese they appear as a summary edition: every chapter is summarised in Chinese, and the full English text is offered in a collapsible section, marked up as English for speech synthesis.
- Some white-paper charts are published as images: their caption summarises the result, but not all underlying data are yet offered as tables.
- Maps and interactive scenes, including the 3D process model, carry part of their information visually; a text or list equivalent accompanies them but may be less detailed.
- The PDF editions of the white papers (French, English, Chinese) are not fully tagged for screen readers; the web edition remains the accessible reference.
- Looping videos are silent and decorative; they stop when off screen and with the “reduce motion” setting, which acts as a global pause control.
Report a problem
If any content or function is not accessible to you, tell us through the contact form (subject “Other enquiry”), giving the page, the device and the software you used. We will offer an accessible alternative and fix the problem.
Method
Self-assessment carried out while building the site: automated checks on every release (contrast, heading structure, accessible names, text alternatives, touch targets, overflow), an axe-core audit, keyboard navigation, reduced-motion and enlarged-text testing, printing, and review of the pages at 390, 768, 1,280 and 1,440 pixels wide. The library and its chapters were checked the same way.
