Cameroon Steel SARL is developing a steel complex at Mboro, in the Kribi industrial-port zone, Cameroon, to supply construction steel to national and regional markets. The project is at the development stage: nothing is built yet. It targets a design capacity of one million tonnes a year, built in phases. The first phase plans an electric melt shop and a rolling mill: it will melt scrap and imported direct-reduced iron (DRI/HBI) into certified reinforcing bar and wire rod. Cameroonian iron ore is to follow in time, with a direct-reduction unit: that is the project’s long-term path, from mineral resource to industrial value. The foundation stone was laid on 30 December 2024 by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, representing the Head of State. Registered office: Mimboman, Yaoundé.
